DAYCARE CENTRE, OAKLEIGH

We were awarded the project, a full play area refurbishment for this private daycare centre, by the owners, who had inherited the existing, tired playscape from the previous operators. Our task was to solve some serious drainage issues, make the area safe and functionable and add in some new play equipment for the kids. We soon discovered that the drainage issues were caused by the existing play area being laid over a concrete slab, which was the old driveway and yard of the property, with no drainage provisions and falls towards the property. Once this was removed, (adding 3 days to the scope), we set about re-levelling, stabilizing the ground and adding in plenty of underground drainage.
We installed sleeper edging, concrete landings, synthetic turfing, new play equipment and two new in gound sandpits with deck surrounds. (Owner revised their decision on the heights after construction, so we amended for them to suit). A highly rewarding project seeing the faces of the kids watching their new play space being constructed each day. The total scope duration was 5 weeks on site, over a period of two months, due to external factors including playground equipment delivery and installation delays.
